Shelton — A Shelton man has been arrested for allegedly selling methadone and oxycontin pills out of his Center Street apartment.
Shelton and state police Wednesday morning issued a search warrant for 87 Center Street and found 100 methadone pills and about 30 oxycontin pills, according to Det. Ben Trabka.
Police said resident James Limerick, 26, was selling the drugs from the apartment.
Limerick was charged with possession of narcotics, possession within 1,500 of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby on Feb. 16.
The drugs recovered from the apartment had an estimated street value of about $1,500, Trabka said.
Methadone is available in a prescription for people who have morphine addictions, Trabka said. It is often used illegally by recovering heroin addicts or by others looking to get high, Trabka said.
Trabka said police are still investigating where Limerick got the pills from.
They were tipped off to the drug sales by concerned neighbors, Trabka said.
Trabka encouraged anyone with information about illegal drug use to call the Shelton Police Detective Bureau at (203) 924-0212. All calls are kept confidential.
