“The Great Give,” a 36-hour online fundraiser for nonprofit groups all over the Valley and New Haven, starts at 8 a.m. May 1 and ends 8 p.m. May 2.
Last year’s “Great Give” raised about $1.3 million.
About 300 groups participated, including The Valley Indy.
At The Valley Indy, we use The Great Give in two ways:
1. It’s our major crowd-sourced fundraiser. We’re hoping to raise $10,000 from readers in 36 hours this year.
2. We publicize other local groups you can help by donating during The Great Give.
To accomplish both goals, reporter Ethan Fry and I will be live streaming for roughly 36 hours from our office in Ansonia.
That video will be available on our Facebook page and ValleyIndy.org during The Great Give.
We’ll invite a bunch of lower Valley Great Give participants to come to Ansonia and share their stories — live on the web.
