Dear Voters:

I wanted to take a moment thank everyone who voted for me for the Derby Board of Education.

I am honored to serve and will do the best that I can to justify your support. As always, if you have questions, opinions to share or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to me. I can be reached at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

If you are interested in receiving Board of Education updates, please send me your email address and I will send you items of interest.

You can also follow me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/jimgildeaderby as I provide Board of Education updates there as well.

I would also like to thank all the candidates who ran from both parties. As someone who was born and raised in Derby and has stayed and raised my own family here, I love our City. I know that each person who runs for office does so because of their own commitment to Derby and for that, I am grateful.

After each election, I have always seen most people put the election behind them and work for what is in the best interest of the City. I also appreciate the camaraderie and getting to know people that comes from running together and against each other (and standing outside in the rain at the polling places together).

Finally, I was heartened to see many younger and newer people running and getting involved from both parties. It made me think back to my own first election back in 1987.

Government always work best when we get the viewpoint from many different members of our population. This will bode well for our City. I feel like I have seen the future and I was comforted.

Thanks again,

Jim Gildea
