Household Hazardous Waste Collection Nov. 5

Residents of Ansonia, Derby, and Seymour can dispose of household hazardous waste and paint Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ansonia Public Works Department, 1 North Division St., Ansonia.

There is no fee, but proof of residency is required.

Partial List of What to Bring:

  • Kitchen/bathroom: Aerosols, metal and furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, floor care products, oven and drain cleaners, nail polish remover
  • Garage/workshop: Gasoline, auto body repair products, paint thinner and stripper, other oils, cleaners used motor oil, brake and transmission fluid, antifreeze
  • Garden/miscellaneous: Chemical fertilizer herbicides and insecticides, fungicides and pesticides, photographic chemicals, swimming pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs (Inducting CFL Type), small (1 Pound) propane cylinders, mercury and items containing mercury

Acceptable Paints:

Interior and exterior architectural paints, latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based, enamel, deck coatings, floor paints, primers, sealers, undercoatings, field and lawn paints stains, shellacs, lacquers, varnishes, urethanes (single component), waterproofing sealers (except tar or bitumen based), metal coatings, rust preservatives.

The following items are not accepted:

Auto Batteries, Radioactive or medical waste, asbestos, explosives, compressed gas cylinders, lead paint chips, gas grill propane tanks, fire extinguishers
