‘Leah’s Birthday Bash’ Feb. 4 To Benefit Scholarship Fund

It’s impossible to forget the news story of the unimaginable tragedy that struck the family of Bedford Middle School teacher Colleen Rondon just before school started in 2015.

The Rondons lost their 6‑year-old little girl that day when she was struck by a car while playing at a friend’s house on a summer day. While their world went dark in a split second, the Rondons have found the strength and resilience to spend Leah’s birthday not in mourning but in celebration of her life, with an indoor carnival that benefits a fund they established in her memory.

Leah’s Birthday Bash is a heartwarming, fun-filled event for kids and families with carnival games, crafts, face painting, raffles, and entertainment. Performers this year include: triple threat Jamie Mann (who has performed as Billy Elliot in 60 shows from New Hampshire to Florida), This Way to Broadway cast member Casey Nadzam, 8‑year-old piano prodigy Leif Edoff, the award-winning senior company of Westport Dance Center, and many more. All proceeds will benefit the Leah Rondon Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Leah was a happy, vivacious 6‑year-old. She was an avid athlete and a strong student who loved to read and play with friends at recess. Leah left behind two older brothers, Henry and Sam, and her parents, Colleen and Henry. The Leah Rondon Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating female student at Kolbe Cathedral High School where Leah’s father Henry is an administrator.
