‘Leah’s Birthday Bash’ Feb. 6 To Benefit Memorial Scholarship Fund

The family of Leah Rondon, a 6‑year-old Ansonia girl killed in an accident last August, will celebrate her life at a Birthday Bash” in her honor Saturday (Feb. 6).

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Leah Rondon Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Saturday’s event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at Kolbe Cathedral High School, where Leah’s father, Henry, is principal.

The school is at 33 Calhoun Place, Bridgeport.

Admission is free, but money spent on tickets for individual events will go to the scholarship fund named in Leah’s honor.

In a statement, Leah’s mother, Colleen, said her family hopes this will be a great time for kids and their families, during an otherwise dreary and cold time of year. We are ready to memorialize our daughter in a happy and positive way.”

Leah was always having fun,” Colleen said. We have so many memories of her enjoying the regular routine of a child’s life: going to school, playing in the yard, attending camp, competing in soccer, basketball and softball.”

Having a carnival to provide some fun for other kids continues to bring those joyful memories to us,” Colleen said. Raising money to help high school students continue their education is a bonus.”

The event will feature carnival games, crafts, face painting, raffles, performances, vendors, and more.

A Facebook page has been set up for the event.

Information about the event and the scholarship fund is also available at the Kolbe Cathedral website.
