Letter: Vote Kurtyka For Derby Board Of Ed

Kurtyka

I am writing this letter to ask the Voters of Derby for their support on Election Day for George F. Kurtyka, who has served on the Board of Education since 2009 when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term.

He has been an elected member since 2010. From 2007 to 2008 he was elected to the Board of Apportionment and Taxation and the Water Pollution Control Authority.

In 2013 he was appointed Justice of the Peace.

According to George:

It has been a privilege and an honor serving as a member of the Derby Board of Education. I value public education and feel it is my duty as a Board of Education member to provide every child in the Derby School District an outstanding education. In the face of continuing financial challenges that confront our taxpayers we need to be smarter in how we achieve our objectives. I fought for all day kindergarten when the school district wanted to eliminate it and switch to part-time. Experience matters and with your continued support, I look forward to the opportunity to continue my service on the Board of Education.”

George has a Master of Arts Degree from City University of New York. He had a 30-year career at the Derby Police Department and is currently employed at Yale New Haven Hospital as an investigator in the Department of Protective Services.

He is currently a member of Valley Regional Lodge #151 having served a past president, a member of the Derby Elks Lodge #571, a member of the Adriatic Marchegian (AM) Club, past Lieutenant Governor of the Connecticut District of the Amateur Athletic Union ((AAU) and was a former member of the Connecticut Council of Police Union AFSCME Council 15 Retiree Chapter.

George is married to Camille Grande Kurtyka. He has two children, George M. and Stacey, and two granddaughters, Berlin and Nola.

George attends every school board meeting and school activity to which he is invited. He attends conferences to keep up with the growing trends of education. He is always available to the parents and school districts children.

He truly loves his position on the Board of Education.

Vote 18A.

I thank you in advance for your support!

Camille Grande Kurtyka
