Lionetti On Derby Plan: ‘Much Ado About Nothing’

So the Dugatto Administration took 3.5 years to use $400,000 in grant funds to tell the residents of Derby that you can do a mixed use development in the downtown area (something we already knew)?

Then they spent millions of dollars to purchase and demolish buildings in the downtown area.

Now we have a $5 million state grant to plot a grid on the road in the downtown area.

We have had charrettes, forums, workshops, announcements and press releases about what? A study and a grid.

You have now spent millions in tax dollars and after almost four years you have no developer and no redevelopment happening in the downtown.

I begrudgingly have to give credit to Mayor Dugatto for making something out of virtually nothing.

She’s very good at that, but at the end of the day, what do the taxpayers of the City of Derby have?

A 3.6 mil tax increase last year (one of the highest we have ever seen in recent history), a charrette, and a grid.

What’s next?

Another study to tell us we haven’t done anything for the past 3 and1/2 years?

Guess what? We already know that.
