‘Midseason Celebration’ At Shelton Farmers Market Aug. 1

CONTRIBUTEDThe Shelton Farmers Market Association invites the community to join in for a Midseason Celebration” on Saturday Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shelton Farmers Market, located at 100 Canal St. in Shelton.

Live music will be performed by Joe Ballaro, Michael Burgess, and Fred Monahan. Children’s activities will be provided by Joe and Tiffany Ballaro, owners of Bar 140. A planting activity for kids will be provided by Katelyn Russell and Stone Gardens Farm. Other specials for the day include roasted sweet corn, veggie fritters, and an opportunity to shell and pop popcorn. In addition, there will be a market basket giveaway.

The vendors of the day include East Village Farm, Grassy Hill Farm, Laurel Glen Farm, Liquid Lunch, Oronoque Farms Bakery, Seasonal Sweets and Catering, Stone Gardens Cut Flowers, Stone Gardens Farm, These Things Take Thyme, and Waterview Farm.

Shelton Farmers Market Administrator Stacia Monahan, of Stone Gardens Farm, commented, This producer-only market has grown so much in the last couple months. We are excited for this growth and welcome the community to celebrate with us for a Midseason Celebration. The market is in full swing and we want to show our appreciation to the community for their devoted support of local agriculture.”

Community members are welcome to join the Shelton Farmers Market Association for an annual membership fee of $20 to show their support for the producer-only market. Each member is then able to vote at the monthly planning meeting, held the first Monday of the month. Meetings take place at the Farmers Market Building or City Hall depending on time of year. Business sponsorships are also available at the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of $100, $200, and $300, respectively. Business sponsorship benefits vary, from promotion on marketing materials to booth space at the market. Interested individuals can sign up at the market or email [email protected].

The Shelton Farmers Market takes place at the Farmers Market Building, 100 Canal Street, every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., now until November 25th. In addition to accepting cash and credit cards, the market also accepts SNAP and WIC benefits.
