Miller And Company To Push Car For ‘Seymour Pink’

FILE PHOTOIn two weeks Seymour Selectman Kurt Miller and nine pals will be pushing a car more than three miles to raise money for a local cancer organization.

The 5th Annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5K is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 in Seymour on River Street.

The event raises money for Seymour Pink, a nonprofit organization that helps people with breast cancer and gives money to research.

October is Seymour Pink” month in Seymour.

During this time, we have several events that raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer,” Miller said in a prepared statement issued last week.

Miller hopes to raise $10,000 this year during the 5k by pushing a car with nine people for 3.1 miles.

I know this won’t be easy, but neither will pushing the car,” Miller said.

Miller is offering sponsorships for the car he’ll be pushing. Sponsors will get a logo on the vehicle. Think of NASCAR, Miller said.

Here are the sponsorship levels:

  • $500 for front and rear window stickers
  • $1,000 for Doors
  • $1,000 for Front Bumper
  • $1,500 for the Hood
  • $2,500 for a 360-degree roof sign

A Go Fund Me” page was created to raise money. Click here to check it out.

Anyone who makes a donation will have their name placed on the car in smaller letters,” Miller said.

Miller and others previously walked the race in high heels as a way to raise money for Seymour Pink.

The idea comes from Seymour’s Alex Danka, Miller said.

A Seymour High School cheerleader will be in the vehicle’s driver’s seat, steering.

But we’re also going to have public works trucks set up with some chains, just in case,” Miller said. We want to be safe.”
