Motorcyclist, Passenger Seriously Injured In Route 8 Crash

Two people are in critical condition after a wreck on Route 8 in Shelton Sunday.

According to an accident information summary from state police, Faton Osman, a 27-year-old Wolcott resident, lost control of his motorcycle while changing lanes at a high rate of speed just past exit 11 on Route 8 South about 5:30 p.m.

Osman and a passenger, 28-year-old Ann Laconte of Stratford, were thrown off the motorcycle into the median.

Both sustained serious injuries, state police said. Police did not elaborate on the specific wounds.

Osman was taken by paramedics to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Laconte was taken to Bridgeport Hospital.

State police said both remain in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation. Police asked any witnesses to call the Troop I barracks in Bethany at 203 – 393-4200 and ask to speak to Trooper Ryan Burke.

Last week three people died in crashes on Route 8 in the lower Naugatuck Valley.

A New York man was killed Thursday (May 19) afternoon after crashing his truck into a state Department of Transportation work truck on Route 8 south in Seymour.

Earlier Thursday, a Stratford man and a Seymour woman were killed after a head-on crash near exit 13 in Shelton.
