Navel Gazing—Vacation Edition!

ANONYMOUSHopefully you noticed the Valley Indy hasn’t published a new story in a week.

That’s because we took a week off.

Actually, it was three days.

Nevertheless, we still recorded a fresh episode of Navel Gazing,” our weekly podcast.

Press play to listen.

About this week’s non-Valley news episode:

The guests were Brian Spears and Joe Greenberg, of the Mobile Horror Companion, a podcast.

Joe Greenberg is a screenwriter who very recently made headlines in the motion picture industry by selling his spec script, MAN ALIVE, for big bucks according to Deadline.com.

The movie is scheduled to be directed by Noah Hawley, the genius behind FARGO, the best show on TV.

Here’s what Carson Reeves, of the website ScriptShadow,’ had to say about MAN ALIVE:

I really liked this script. I really liked this writer. Since the writing was so simple, so straight to the point, it never got in the way, allowing the story to be the star. And what a story it was.

If you’re a scifi screenwriter, you need to study this screenplay to see what a good sci-fi spec reads like.”

Brian Spears is a special effects makeup artist. That means, basically, he makes monsters.

He is always covered in latex, tobacco and fake blood. Brian’s credits include Stake Land,” We Are What You Are,” and Cold in July,” all directed by Jim Mickle; The Innkeepers” and The Sacrament,” both directed by Ti West; I Sell the Dead,” Hellbenders,” Shadow: Dead Riot,” Late Phases,” Flesh for the Beast,” and, more recently, he worked on the Netflix shows Orange is the New Black,” Daredevil,” and Jessica Jones.”

His latest gorefest, The Mind’s Eye,” is scheduled to be released Aug. 5, and its trailer just hit EW.com.

Enjoy!
