Nimons Endorses Kotalis, Scarlata For Ansonia Board Of Education

As President of our Ansonia Board of Education I would like to take this time to endorse both Aretta Kotalis and Vincent Scarlata for reelection to our BOE. Both have worked for the last four years solely for the benefit of our students in a nonpartisan fashion. Please note that our BOE oversees our district with no political agenda. Keeping these two candidates in place ensures that will continue.

Aretta Kotalis comes to us as a retired secondary education teacher, certified in Social Studies, History and English. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Boston College, and a Masters degree in History from University of New Hampshire. She has been teaching students for most of her career and is a welcome addition to our BOE.

Vincent Scarlata has been serving the City for eight years. He served on our Economic Development Commission for four years, 3½ of which he served as Chairman, and the last four years on our Board of Education. He has two daughters in our school system, one at Ansonia Middle School and one at Prendergast Elementary, and he continues to serve in all students’ best interest.

Aretta and Vin have worked to uphold the district’s new Mission Statement, which is our roadmap to the future: The Ansonia Public Schools, consisting of a partnership between the community, parents, and educators, is committed to providing a safe, progressive learning environment that ensures students achieve their maximum individual potential with the confidence to take intellectual risks and become curious, lifelong learners.

Sincerely,

William Nimons
