The state’s medical examiner has not determined the cause of death for a man found in his house in Shelton Friday.
Richard Briercheck, 46, of 62 Howe Ave., was found inside his residence about 6:45 a.m. Friday.
Police initially characterized the incident as an “untimely death.” The state police took over the investigation on Friday afternoon.
On Monday the medical examiner’s office said the Briercheck’s death was undetermined, “pending further studies.”
That often means the medical examiner is waiting for results from blood tests.
The medical examiner will eventually issue a determination on the manner of death, which helps to tell police how to proceed.
