The following statement was released by state Rep. Linda Gentile’s campaign Sept. 19.
Linda M. Gentile, candidate for re-election for state Representative in the 104th District, (Ansonia and Derby) has received notification that CT-NOW stands behind her and gives her their endorsement.
This is the first time in many years that the organization has endorsed state candidates.
Linda is one of only 50 candidates running for the Connecticut General Assembly to receive this endorsement.
The breakdown includes 47 Democrats, two Republicans and one from the CT Green Party.
The majority of candidates endorsed by NOW were male.
“I am so proud and pleased to have earned this endorsement,” Gentile said. “The issues of economic justice, violence against women and families, racial justice, pay equity and constitutional equality are just some of the many important issues that I am so passionate about.”
“These issues are basic human rights and relate directly to quality of life. I am grateful to be one of the select few to earn and receive this recognition,” she said.
