Oxford Agricultural Committee Sponsoring May 28 Labor Law Workshop

Are you a farm business owner who currently employs on-farm labor? Are you thinking of hiring seasonal or youth labor? Are you providing apprenticeships or volunteer opportunities on your farm?

The Connecticut Farm Bureau Association is partnering with the Oxford Agriculture Advisory Committee and the Southbury Agriculture Committee, a sub-committee of the Southbury Economic Development Commission, to hold a free workshop on the Basics of Agriculture Labor Laws.

The session will be held Thursday, May 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Southbury Town Hall, Room 205, at 501 Main Street South in Southbury. Reservations are not required.

Attorney Jessica Z. Wragg of Robert Noonan and Associates, LLC will be the featured speaker presenting the basics of agricultural labor laws.

Robert Noonan and Associates, LLC is a legal services firm that advises more than 8,000 Connecticut employers and several trade associations on employer-employee issues. Joseph Bonelli, UConn Extension Educator will also provide a 2015 Farm Bill update on using USDA Risk Management Programs.

This Program is a cooperative effort of Connecticut Farm Bureau Association, UConn Extension, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, and the Risk Management Agency/USDA.
