Police: Biker From Ansonia Charged With Weapons, Drug Charges

Rhode Island state police arrested an alleged member of the Hells Angels motorcycle club from Ansonia Saturday.

Kenneth Michaels, 44, was one of three Angels arrested, police said.

The Hells Angels have a chapter in Bridgeport and in Providence, R.I.

According to a prepared statement from Rhode Island state police, Michaels and the others were stopped for unspecified motor vehicle violations on Route 95 in East Greenwich.

Police searched the bikers and allegedly found a loaded .357 Charter Arms Mag Pug, an unspecified amount of MDMA (the drug Molly”), and the seizure of four other weapons that were only described as being other than firearms.”

Michaels was charged with carrying a pistol without a license or permit, possession of a schedule 1 drug, and two counts of possessing a weapon other than firearms.

He was released after posting $5,000 bail.

In Rhode Island, the maximum punishment for possessing a firearm without a license is 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

This is another example of nothing being routine about a routine traffic stop,’” Rhode Island State Police Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell said in a prepared statement. I commend the troopers for their attention to detail and their understanding of the outlaw biker mentality of carrying weapons.”
