Police Search For Man Who Robbed Store In Seymour

Seymour police are looking for a man who robbed the Xtra Mart convenience store at 44 New Haven Road (Route 67) early Thursday.

The crime happened at about 2 a.m. and no injuries were reported, according to information from Seymour Police Deputy Chief Paul Satkowski.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. Police think he’s in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing darkpants, black and red sneakers and a black and red jacket with a gray hoodie, which he used to conceal his face.

According to police the suspect walked into the store and asked an employee for an item behind the counter. He threatened to hurt the employee if the employee didn’t hand over cash. Police didn’t say whether the employee was male or female.

No weapons were displayed.

The employee complied with the assailant’s demands and gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money,” Satkowski said in a prepared statement.

The suspect left the store and headed west, possibly to a waiting vehicle.

Cops searched the area with help from a state police dog but were unable to find the suspect.

Detectives processed the crime scene and reviewed video recordings of the robbery.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who may have been in the general area of the store between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.
