Police Seek Derby Resident Who Allegedly Stole From Dying Woman

New York troopers are trying to find a Derby woman they think ripped off a terminally ill fashion executive.

According to Newsday, Erin O’Hanlon, 34, allegedly fled her apartment within 35 Minerva St. Monday just before New York State police arrived to question her about the theft of $9,200 from the bank account of Kate Sullivan, 50, a Manhattan marketing executive who had worked for designers Kimora Lee Simmons and Diane von Furstenberg.

Sullivan lived in Long Island.

State police said in a prepared statement that O’Hanlon stole the money just before the woman died in September — and stole her identity as well.

She is wanted on charges of first-degree identity theft, grand larceny and several other crimes.

She opened several store credit cards in New Haven, Connecticut, fraudulently purchasing $3,931.97 worth of merchandise,” state police said. Ms. O’Hanlon could possibly be in the New York City area.”

O’Hanlon is suspected of stealing about $50,000 from eight victims in the past 12 months, all from Long Island and New York City, Newsday reported.

If you know where she is, contact New York State Police Troop L, Major Case Unit at (631) 756‑3300.
