Public Hearing Wednesday On 121-Acre Shelton Mixed Use Proposal

Shelton’s Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled Wednesday to hear details on a developer’s plans to build a nine-story, 450-unit apartment building and more than 300,000 square feet of retail space on a 121-acre property off Bridgeport Avenue.

More than 100 residents turned out for an informal informational” meeting on the project last month at City Hall. Many worried about increased traffic in the area and the impact the development will have on nearby scenic roads.

Wednesday’s public hearing will be at Shelton Intermediate School, 675 Constitution Blvd. North, at 7 p.m.

An architectural drawing of the proposed nine-story apartment building is posted above.

The Conservation Commission voted at their monthly meeting April 6 to send a letter to the PZC opposing the plan because of concerns about impacts to nearby open space.
