Route 8 Resurfacing Work Under Way

Shelton state legislators Rep. Jason Perillo and Sen. Kevin Kelly sent press releases with the following information about upcoming state road work in the city.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the nighttime resurfacing of Route 8 Northbound will begin joint repair operations on Monday, July 27, at 10 p.m.

The project begins just before Exit 8 and ends at the on ramp for Exit 13 on Route 8 northbound. The project consists of milling 3 inches of the surface and replacing it with 3 inches of polymer modified asphalt. Replacement of the top 1.5 inches of the wearing surface on all ramps within the project limits will also take place.

CTDOT Project No. 144 – 195 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut Incorporated of Newington on June 15 at a cost of $9,191,025 with an official start date of July 27 and an anticipated completion date of Nov. 1.

The regular work schedule for this project is from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
 
On occasion, the on/off ramps within the project limits will be closed and detour signs will posted to guide motorists. 
 
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
