School Bus Hit By Pellet Or BB In Ansonia

Ansonia parents are on edge after someone shot a school bus window with a BB or pellet gun Friday.

It happened on North State Street as the bus approached the intersection with State Street at about 2 p.m.

Students were on the bus, but no injuries were reported.

The bus stopped near Crowley Street and the children were off-loaded and put onto a second bus to be brought home,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in a prepared statement Friday afternoon.

Officers searched the area looking for witnesses but were not able to locate a suspect.

Officer Joseph Jackson is investigating.

Anyone with info should call the police department at 203 735 1885.

The bus incident comes on the heels of a threat posted on an after-school app caused Ansonia schools to dismiss early Monday and to not open Tuesday.

Police have not made an arrest in connection to that incident, which is believed to have been motivated by bullying.

The threat coupled with Friday’s potshot had parents sounding off on the Valley Indy’s Facebook page Friday.

Also, in March, a tree trimmer was shot by someone armed with a BB gun. The worker was not seriously injured.

That incident happened at about 10 a.m. March 24 on Myrtle Avenue, about 1 mile from Friday’s incident.
