Town of Seymour PhotoApproximately 50 units will be in the line of march as the 44th annual Seymour Christmas Parade steps off Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m.

The parade will assemble at the community center and River Road and take the traditional route over the Broad Street bridge, up Main Street, then on to Route 67 before dispersing on Spruce Street.

Prior to the parade, there will be entertainment at the reviewing stand adjacent to the railroad station.

When the 44th annual Seymour Christmas Parade steps off Sunday, individuals who have made a significant difference in the quality of life in Seymour will be recognized.

State Representative Theresa Conroy will be the Grand Marshal of this year’s event.

According to parade association president Bob Lang, Theresa has worked diligently on behalf of the residents of Seymour and it’s only fitting that we acknowledge her efforts.”

Stanley and Phyllis Jachimowski will be presented with the Community Service Award in recognition of their efforts to erect a flagpole at the French Park overlook which can be seen by countless drivers on Route 8.

The Business Person of the Year Award, sponsored by Zois’ Pizza, will be presented to Vin Daddio in appreciation for his many years of support for numerous events and groups in town.

The Connecticut Alumni Senior Drum & Bugle Corps, always a favorite with the spectators, will perform a medley of Christmas tunes.

That location would be a good vantage point throughout the parade as several groups will stop there to perform musical or dance numbers.

In case of inclement weather, the parade will be held the following Sunday, December 6.
