Seymour Founders’ Day Is June 1, 2014

Seymour will celebrate its 5th Annual Founders’ Day event on Sunday, June 1, 2014 with a rain date of Sunday, June 8, 2014. 

Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and run through 5 p.m.

As in past years, the downtown business district will be closed to traffic and streets will become pedestrian walkways dotted with vendors selling goods/ wares/ crafts and food. 

Downtown stores and restaurants will be open for business as well. 

Children will once again enjoy an inflatable area. 

This year’s benefactor(s) of the festival’s proceeds will be Citizen’s Engine Company #2 and Great Hill Hose Company. 

Donated proceeds will enable both fire companies the ability to purchase new equipment to protect the residents of Seymour. 

Guests can park in the Silvermine Industrial Park at CT Basement Systems and buses from All-Star Transportation will transport people to and from the event. 

Bus stops will be at both ends of Main St. Parking will also be available at the Kerite Property on Day Street.

Buses will also be available to take guests to the Seymour Historical Society where tours of the museum will be given. 

Many of the Seymour’s forefathers and prominent community members are buried in Trinity Cemetery across the street and self guided tours may be taken.

An added attraction to this year’s event will be tours given at Grand Light’s museum located at 104 Day Street. 

Shuttles will be available to transport people to and from the Company’s location at the entrance of Day Street at Rt 67. 

A food court and a beer garden will be available to satisfy everyone’s palate. 

Entertainment all day will be provided by Phoenix at the Main Stage located in Seymour Town Hall parking lot.

Handicap parking will be available in the Strand Theater lot on Main Street..

Vendor booths are $10 for non-profits, $50 for crafts vendors and $150 for food vendors if applications received by April 15, 2014. 

Any applications received after that date will be an additional $10.
