Seymour To Officially Open Skate Park

FILE PHOTOThe Seymour Skate Park Committee is pleased to announce its grand opening.

The event will be held on Saturday April 26, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Skate Park, which is located at Ronald Randall Field at 20 Pine St. in Seymour.

The event will include a live BMX performance by Dialed Action Sports Team at 10 a.m.

The performance will be preceded by a welcome by Skate Park Chairman Paul Roy, Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller and other dignitaries.

DJ Bryan Ryan, a skate park committee member, will provide music and the audio system. Refreshments and tee shirts will be available for purchase.

The Seymour Skate Park has been a two year project and was funded by the State of Connecticut.

The funding was provided because the old Skate Park was located at the site of the Fish By Pass project.

The By Pass is scheduled to be opened later this year.

The Skate Park will be named The Seymour BMX Skate Park at Ronald Randall Field.

The field is named for Lance Corporal Ronald M. Randall who was killed in Vietnam in May of 1968.

The Seymour American Legion will have a dedication ceremony in Corporal Randall’s honor in the future.

We hope that the public will attend the Grand Opening as the Committee and the young people that use the facility are very proud of this Skate Park,” committee members said.
