Shelton Cops: Bridgeport Man Sexually Assaulted Girl

A Bridgeport man is due in court next week on charges he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl in Shelton last August.

Kristal Turman, 36, was arrested Dec. 31 on a warrant charging him with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said in a prepared statement Friday.

The statement said Turman’s arrest stems from an investigation that began in August 2013 when an allegation of sexual contact with a child was reported to police.”

Police said Turman had inappropriate sexual contact” with a 10-year-old female in Shelton on August 24, 2013.

The victim was at a family member’s house when the alleged contact occurred,” Kozlowsky’s statement said.

According to Judicial Branch records, Turman is currently being held on bonds totaling $90,000 and is scheduled to appear Jan. 15 at Superior Court in Derby in the Shelton case.

Kozlowsky’s statement said Turman also has active arrest warrants for crimes related to sexual contact with juveniles in South Carolina and Georgia.
