Shelton Cops Charge Four With Burglary Try

Four Ansonia residents were arrested after police said they tried to break into a Shelton house Wednesday (March 5) morning.

About 9:30 a.m., the owner of a home on Foxhunt Road called 911 and reported that people were trying to break into the house, according to a prepared statement from police.

The homeowner told police the people trying to break in fled in a vehicle when they noticed someone was home, but the caller provided a description to cops, according to police.

An officer working a private duty job in the area saw a vehicle matching the description heading toward Route 110, and relayed the information to other officers responding to the scene.

Those officers quickly located the vehicle and stopped it, according to police, then charged four people inside it with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and attempted third-degree burglary.

Arrested were:

  • Walter Young, 57, of South Cliff Street
  • Danielle McDaniel, 28, of Clarkson Street
  • Sandra Purcell, 40, of Howe Avenue
  • John Shibilski, 34, of Root Avenue

Police said McDaniel and Young were released after posting bonds of $500 and $5,000, respectively, and are due to appear at Superior Court in Derby March 19.

Purcell and Shibilski were being held on $5,000 bonds to be arraigned Thursday (March 6) at Superior Court in Derby, according to police.
