Shelton Cops Charge Two With Wal-Mart Burglary

Two Shelton men face burglary and theft charges after police said an officer caught them stealing car batteries from Wal-Mart.

According to a prepared statement issued by Shelton police Monday (May 12), Officer Richard Bailey was on patrol on Bridgeport Avenue about 2 a.m. Sunday (May 11) when he saw a truck leaving the rear parking lot of Wal-Mart.

The truck was stopped on Route 8, police said, and while approaching it, Bailey saw about 30 car batteries in the truck’s bed marked Return to Wal-Mart.”

Based on an investigation by officers, it was determined that the batteries were stolen,” the prepared statement from police said.

The driver of the truck, Brian Vincent, 45, and a passenger, David Mazerolle, 39, were both charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and third-degree criminal trespass.

Both were released on $2,500 bonds and are scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby May 23.
