Shelton Fire Department Weekly Calls

Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last week.

On 11/13/17 at 9:39 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to an illegal open burn at #145 Booth Hill Road. An engine responded.

On 11/13/17 at 8:15 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Conti Realty Building #415 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. A faulty fire alarm pull station was the cause. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 11/14/17 at 5:56 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Shelton Lakes Health Care Center at #5 Lake Road. There was no fire. Smoke from a malfunctioning room heater activated the alarm. An engine responded.

On 11/14/17 at 9:07 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to an illegal open burn on Perry Hill Road. One unit responded.

On 11/14/17 at 2:25 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Riverdale Restaurant at #521 River Road. There was no fire. A tower truck responded.

On 11/14/17 at 2:47 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Coram Avenue at White Street. An engine responded.

On 11/14/17 at 3:13 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Mark Apartments at #738 Bridgeport Avenue for an odor of natural gas. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 11/15/17 at 4:16 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #1 Mountain Drive. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 11/15/17 at 1:22 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to a brush fire on Leavenworth Road. An engine responded.

On 11/15/17 at 1:54 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at Lex Products at #15 Progress Drive. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 11/15/17 at 5:38 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridgeport Avenue. A rescue truck and a utility truck responded.

On 11/16/17 at 4:15 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co.#5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Mohegan Road. Two engines responded.

On 11/16/17 at 4:42 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south at exit 12. A rescue truck responded.

On 11/16/17 at 6:08 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an odor of burning in the home at # 15 Chestnut Street. There was no fire. The odor was from a problem with a clothes dryer. Two engines, a ladder truck and a tower truck responded.

On 11/16/17 at 8:30 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #23 Bridgeport Avenue for an activated carbon monoxide detector sounding. A dead battery in the detector caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 11/17/17 at 9:20 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #25 Old Stratford Road. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 11/17/17 at 9:30 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Walgreens at #700 Bridgeport Avenue for an odor of natural gas in the building. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 11/17/17 at 4:34 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co.#5 responded to a brush fire on Mohegan Road. A brush truck responded.

On 11/17/17 at 6:03 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Old Stratford Road. An engine responded.

On 11/17/17 at 9:12 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a chimney fire at #35 Armstrong Road. Two engines, two rescue trucks and a ladder truck responded.

On 11/18/17 at 02:05 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to motor vehicle accident in the area of #238 River Road. An engine responded.

On 11/18/17 at 6:13 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a report of an odor of gas outside of the Stop & Shop Supermarket at #898 Bridgeport Avenue. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 11/18/17 at 7:13 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co.#5 responded to #6 Biltmore Road for an odor of smoke in the house. Firefighters determined a problem with a furnace caused the odor. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 11/19/17 at 9:54 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #57 Audubon Lane for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 11/19/17 at 12:24 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the corner of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Valley Road for power lines down in the road. An engine responded.
