Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last week.
On 01/08/18 at 10:39 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Shelton Intermediate School at #675 North Constitution Boulevard. There was no fire. A broken fire sprinkler pipe caused the alarm. An engine responded.
On 01/08/18 at 2:08 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Nells Rock Road. A rescue truck responded.
On 01/09/18 at 9:45 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call, lockout, at #427 Howe Avenue. A utility truck responded.
On 01/09/18 at 11:44 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Shelton Sports Center #784 River Road. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 01/09/18 at 2:46 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #468 Howe Avenue for a water leak from a broken fire sprinkler pipe. A utility truck responded.
On 01/09/18 at 3:24 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call, lockout, at #898 Bridgeport Avenue. A utility truck responded.
On 01/09/18 at 6:38 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the area of Howe Avenue and Center Street for an odor of gas. Firefighters checked the area and found an unknown vehicle had leaked gasoline along Center Street causing the odor. An engine, a rescue truck and a utility truck responded.
On 01/09/18 at 8:19 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of smoke in the area of Long Hill Avenue and Soundcrest Drive. Firefighters checked the area but found no source of the smoke. A ladder truck responded.
On 01/09/18 at 9:41 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Sears Store #705 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. Three engines and a ladder truck responded.
On 01/10/18 at 9:03 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #12 Long Hill Avenue for water coming from a vacant building. The water was flowing out of the building due to a broken water pipe inside. An engine responded.
On 01/11/18 at 00:49 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Extended Stay America Hotel at #945 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 01/11/18 at 05:01 am the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Big Horn Road near Stephen Drive. AN engine responded.
On 01/11/18 at 12:34 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridgeport Avenue near Greenwich Place. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 01/11/18 at 2:45 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Dunkin Donuts #427 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from an oven caused the alarm. An engine responded.
On 01/11/18 at 4:26 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 north between exits 12 and 13. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 01/12/18 at 00:10 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #421 Walnut Tree Hill Road for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.
On 01/12/18 at 9:44 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the area of #521 River Road for a utility pole transformer on fire. An engine responded.
On 01/12/18 at 3:32 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south between exits 13 and 12. An engine and two rescue trucks responded.
On 01/12/18 at 4:03 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south between exits 12 and 11. Firefighters arrived and found the vehicle was disabled and not involved in an accident. An engine and two rescue trucks responded.
On 01/13/18 at 7:38 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #423 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.
On 01/14/18 at 00:19 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Shelton Intermediate School at #675 North Constitution Boulevard. There was no fire. Two engines responded.
On 01/14/18 at 8:51 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to smoke in a house at #24 Woodfield Drive. A furnace problem was the cause. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 01/14/18 at 9:28 am the Pine Rock Co. 4 #and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #23 Cold Spring Circle for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. An engine responded.
