Shelton Fire Department Weekly Calls

Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last week.

On 02/05/18 at 6:17 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call, lockout, at the Riverview Funeral Home at #390 River Road. A rescue truck responded.

On 02/06/18 at 12:33 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Timberlane Drive. Two engines and a rescue truck responded.

On 02/06/17 at 7:59 pm the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #11 Wilson Lane for smoke in the house. There was no fire. Firefighters determined the smoke was from a furnace problem. Three engines, two rescue trucks and a ladder truck responded.

On 02/06/18 at 8:55 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #31 Federal Road for an odor of propane gas outside. Firefighters found the odor was from a furnace problem. Three engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.

On 02/07/18 at 1:11 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Booth Hill Road near Wilson Lane. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 02/07/18 at 7:10 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm to sound. Two engines and a tower truck responded.

On 02/08/18 at 7:05 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #8 Laurel Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. A malfunction in the alarm system caused the alarm. 

On 02/08/18 at 12:15 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #8 Fawn Meadow Lane for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Dust from construction caused the alarm. Two engines responded.

On 02/09/18 at 7:25 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of an odor of natural gas in the building at the Team Early Education at #54 Grove Street. Firefighters determined the odor was from a piece of construction equipment being used outside the building. a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.

On 02/09/18 at 7:54 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south between exits 13 and 12. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 02/09/18 at 4:52 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4, Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to assist police in a search for a missing resident in the Pine Rock Park area. The person was found the following morning in another town. Two rescue trucks responded.

On 02/10/18 at 9:40 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the Community Center at #41 Church Street for a person stuck in a bathroom after the door lock broke. The person was freed shortly after arrival of fire units. A rescue truck responded.

On 02/10/18 at 2:56 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #145 Running Brook lane to assist EMS with a patient. A rescue truck responded.

On 02/10/18 at 9:56 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Wild Kanji Restaurant #514 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 02/10/18 at 10:21 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #335 Buddington Road for an odor of gasoline in the house. It was determined the odor was from gasoline appliances in the garage. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 02/11/18 at 4:30 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #61 Fort Hill Avenue for a carbon monoxide alarm sounding. An engine responded.

On 02/11/18 at 5:27 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #100 Kings Highway for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a tanker truck responded.
