Shelton Fire Department Weekly Calls

Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.

On 05/15/17 at 2:04 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of an odor of natural gas in the building at Bed Bath & Beyond at #862 Bridgeport Avenue. Firefighters determined the odor was from cleaning fluids and not gas. Two engines and one ladder truck responded.

On 05/15/17 at 4:36 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call on Ivy Brook Road. Firefighters freed ducklings stuck in a storm drain. One rescue truck responded.

On 05/15/17 at 5:43 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a dumpster fire in the rear of Subway at #815 River Road. Two engines responded.

On 05/15/17 at 5:52 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the market Group # 389 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. Two engines and one tower truck responded.

On 05/15/17 at 6:51 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #23 Kanungum Trail for a tree that fell on a vacant house. One engine responded.

On 05/15/17 at 8:53 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of #135 Walnut Tree Hill Road. One engine responded.

On 05/16/17 at 11:30 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to assist EMS with entry to a unit at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street. Fire units were cancelled shortly thereafter.

On 05/17/17 at 9:11 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call at #215 Bridgeport Avenue. One rescue trick responded.

On 05/17/17 at 12:05 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a residential fire alarm sounding at #108 Thoreau Drive. There was no fire. Dust from construction caused the alarm. Two engines responded.

On 05/17/17 at 3:05 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a report of an open burn in the rear of #76 Cliff Street. No fire was found by firefighters after they arrived. One engine responded.

On 05/171/7a t 8:01 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Mark at #7 Acadia Lane. There was no fire. Two engines, one ladder truck, one rescue truck and one tower truck responded.

On 05/18/17 at 6:44 am the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on East Village Road near Longfellow Road. Two engines responded.

On 05/18/17 at 10:27 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a fire on top of a utility pole on Lane Street. One engine responded.

On 05/18/17 at 11:16 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. One unit responded.

On 05/18/17 at 2:04 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a report of wires down in the road on Long Hill Avenue near Hill Street. One engine responded.

On 05/18/17 at 2:19 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #3 Kings Highway. There was no fire. one engine and one ladder truck responded.

On 05/18/17 at 4:09 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a public service lockout call at #865 Bridgeport Avenue. One rescue truck responded.

On 05/19/17 at 6:29 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Avalon Shelton #185 Canal Street. There was no fire. One engine and one ladder truck responded.

On 05/19/17 at 7:58 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a public service lockout call at #130 Soundview Avenue. One rescue truck responded.

On 05/19/17 at the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound near exit 12. Fire units were cancelled shortly thereafter.

On 05/19/17 at 4:28 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of wires down in the road on Cali Drive. One engine responded.

On 05/20/17 at 7:32 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #5 Pawtucket Avenue. There was no fire. One engine responded.
