Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.

On 10/17/16 at 12:46 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Ripton Housing Complex at #423 How Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines responded.

On 10/17/16 at 5:14 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #49 Mohegan Road to assist the owner of a motor vehicle who got locked out of the running vehicle. One engine responded.

On 10/19/16 at 5:37 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound at exit 13. Upon arrival firefighters found a vehicle off the highway and on its side. The driver of the vehicle was out of the car safely. Firefighters remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed from the highway. Two engines responded.

On 10/19/16 at 8:59 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a brush fire on Timberlane Drive. One engine responded.

On 10/20/16 at 6:00 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #81 Vista Drive for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines and one ladder truck responded.

On 10/20/16 at 8:10 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the responded a fuel spill at #707 Bridgeport Avenue. One engine and one rescue truck responded.

On 10/20/16 at 8:30 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded a report of a natural gas leak at #145 Canal Street. No further information was reported. One engine responded.

On 10/21/16 at 02:06 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a small brush fire in the rear of #903 Bridgeport Avenue. Two engines responded.

On 10/23/16 at 00:24 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Ripton Housing Complex at #423 How Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines and one ladder truck responded.

On 10/23/16 at 9:23 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #14 Robin Lane for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
