Shelton Man Charged With Burglary

Shelton police accused a 54-year-old man of burglary and larceny Monday.

John Rotz, of Shelton, is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 18 to answer the charges.

According to a prepared statement from Detective Chris Nugent, police received a call at 2 p.m. Monday from someone saying a man had just stolen a dirt bike from a residential garage somewhere on Isinglass Road.

An officer investigating the case noticed a scooter parked down the street from the victim’s property.

Police said Rotz arrived on the street, saying the scooter was his.

Police were able to link Rotz to the burglary,” according to a prepared statement.

The stolen dirt bike was found hidden in the woods.

Police did not specify how they linked Rotz to the crime.

He was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. He posted a $5,000 bond.

Residents are reminded to lock their residences, set alarms, and lock detached buildings and vehicles on the property,” Nugent said in a statement.
