Shelton, Ansonia Police Charge Two In Burglary Spree

Shelton police have charged two Bridgeport men in overnight burglaries at several downtown businesses and say they’ll likely be charged with similar crimes in other towns.

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said police were called to four burglaries on Howe Avenue Tuesday (Dec. 20) — at the Subway restaurant, City Stylez barber shop, Grow restaurant, and M and T Spa.

Bango said rocks were thrown through the front windows of the businesses to get into them.

Similar break-ins were reported in Seymour and Ansonia Tuesday, Bango said, in addition to burglaries in Stratford and Milford in the recent past.”

Bango said an investigation by detectives from Shelton, Seymour, Stratford, and Milford led to the arrests of Roman Nieves, 37, and Keron Nixon, 34.

Both men were charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, four counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, and four counts of criminal mischief.

Police said both men were due to be arraigned Wednesday (Dec. 21) at Superior Court in Derby.

On Wednesday, Ansonia police announced they had lodged charges against the pair as well.

They allegedly busted into the China Sea Restaurant at 25 Maple St. Police received a report of the crime Dec. 20.

The pair allegedly smashed the front window, entered the business, and stole an unspecified amount of cash.
