Shelton Police Identify Person Found Dead After Fire

Shelton police identified the person found dead after a fire in the Fairchild Heights mobile home park Friday.

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango identified the victim as 75-year-old Richard Kowalsky.

The fire was reported about 5:45 p.m. Friday at 35 Hemlock Drive, a mobile home within the Fairchild Heights development off Bridgeport Avenue.

First responders that arrived on scene received reports that there was possibly a person in the trailer at the time but the fire,” Bango said. After the fire was suppressed it was confirmed that 75-year-old Richard Kowalsky was in the trailer at the time and died of his injuries.”

How the fire started is still under investigation, Bango said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Shelton Police Department, Shelton Fire Marshal’s Office and the Connecticut Fire Marshall’s Office,” Bango said.
