Shelton Police: Monroe Man Sideswiped Cars While DUI

Shelton police charged a Monroe man with driving under the influence after they said he sideswiped five other vehicles on Howe Avenue Thursday night.

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said about 9:15 p.m. several people called 911 reporting the accident.

The suspect, 21-year-old Raymond Pizarro, had run away from the crash by the time cops arrived, but they spotted him running into the woods while canvassing the area.

Officers gave chase and caught Pizarro in the woods,” Bango said.

He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, evading responsibility, interfering with an officer, and failure to drive right.

He was released after posting a $2,000 bond and is due at Superior Court in Derby Nov. 17.
