Seymour Gas Station Hit By ‘Smash And Grab’ Burglar, Too

SHELTON POLICE

Shelton police released surveillance photos of a suspect from a convenience store break-in early Saturday they say may be responsible for a rash of similar burglaries. A Seymour gas station owner used social media to make the public aware (scroll down for pics from the Seymour crime).

Saturday’s break-in occurred about 12:30 a.m. at the Mont’s Mart at 198 Leavenworth Road, Detective Richard Bango said in a prepared statement.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the two suspects driving into the store’s lot in an older model light blue station wagon, after which one of the men got out of the car and smashed the front door of the business with a tire iron.

The man entered the store and stole cigarettes and other items.

SHELTON POLICE

Shelton and surrounding towns have experienced a rash of similar burglaries in the recent past with the above described vehicle and the pictured suspect,” Bango’s statement said. If anyone recognizes the man in the photo or has any information pertaining to the burglaries they are encouraged to contact the Shelton Police Department at 203 – 924-1544.”

Police said all calls will be kept confidential.

The owner of a Sunoco station on Route 67 in Seymour reported on Facebook that he was hit by the same smash and grab” suspect.

This punk, along with his driver, did a smash and grab at my Sunoco station in Seymour last night at around 12:30 a.m.,” Shufeng Ton posted on his Facebook page Sunday. If you have any info or recognize this dirtbag, please message me. The car looks to be an early 90’s Oldsmobile Cierra station wagon, light blue with roof racks. Can’t be too many of them around the Valley.”

Another reader told the Valley Indy the suspect also hit a store in Norwalk this week.

Ton also posted the following photos from the crime (take a good look at the vehicle):
