Shelton Police: Woman Stole Christmas Gifts

Shelton police said alert residents helped them catch a Waterbury woman suspected of stealing Christmas gifts from Aspetuck Village Thursday (Dec. 8).

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said officers were sent to the condominium complex after residents called them saying a woman had stolen packages that had been left there by a UPS driver.

The woman drove off before police arrived, but witnesses gave them a description of her vehicle, including its license plate.

Approximately 45 minutes after the initial call, police located the vehicle traveling northbound on Route 8,” Bango said. The vehicle was stopped on Route 8 north in the area of exit 16. Police noticed several packages in plain view.”

In total, cops said they found 12 packages inside the vehicle, which was being driven by 33-year-old Andrea Guliuzza. Police said they also found drug paraphernalia.

Ten of the packages were from five different addresses in Shelton, police said. Two were from Waterbury.

Guliuzza was charged with five counts of sixth-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was being held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday (Dec. 9), police said.

Police asked residents that if they are having packages delivered they should:

  • Request delivery to the store itself and pick up the item there.
  • Have the package delivered to their work address or to the courier’s pickup station rather than their home.
  • Schedule delivery for a day that they know they will be home or a relative or friend will be home.
  • Require a signature upon receipt for deliveries.
