Shelton Robotics Team Headed To World Championship

The Shelton High School Robotics team #230, The Gaelhawks, has qualified to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship and will travel to St. Louis, MO from April 22 to April 25.

The team, with their Robot Talon XVI, will compete in the 2015 FRC Challenge Recycle Rush!” with over 600 teams from across the globe.

This year’s team qualified with New England District wins at competitions in Waterbury, Hartford, and Dartmouth, MA.

The team is scheduled to compete on the Curie Division field and fans can watch the live webcast at the following link: http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/robotics/first/st-louis-2015/

The Gaelhawks are scheduled to compete in the following matches on Thursday 4/23: #5, #16, #36, #47, #55 and in matches Friday 4/24: #66, #77, #98, #109, #116. Matches are scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM each day. Matches on Saturday 4/25 are TBD.

The team is supported by the Shelton Board of Education, UTC Sikorsky, OEM Controls, Boeing, ATT Connecticut, Intuitive Surgical, Landmark Transportation, IEEE, Cooper Surgical, and Ametek/Hayden Kirk.

Patrons who wish to donate to the team to help offset the transportation and robot construction costs are asked to participate in the New Haven Community Foundation Great Give 2015 on May 5th & 6th.

This is the team’s annual 36 hour Online giving event where dollars are matched by the Valley Community Foundation and additional incentive prizes are available for the Robotics team.
