The impact of this week’s winter storm is still being felt in the Valley.
According to United Illuminating and Eversource — the two electric companies servicing the area — some people are still without power.
The storm rolled through the region Wednesday into early Thursday.
Here are the number of customers out, as of 5 a.m. Friday:
Ansonia: 18 (less than 1 percent of the city)
Beacon Falls: 8 (less than 1 percent)
Derby: 7 (less than 1 percent)
Naugatuck: 19 (less than 1 percent)
Oxford: 108 (2 percent of town)
Seymour: 254 (3 percent of the town)
Shelton: 615 (3 percent of the town)
The information for the communities served by UI was taken from an outage map on the utility’s website. The site also listed a plain-text report with different numbers.
Firefighters and police were still dealing with downed trees, tree branches and wires Thursday.
Citizens’ Engine Co. No.2 in Seymour posted a video showing what responding was like:
In Seymour, First Selectman Kurt Miller used Facebook to keep residents in the loop.
“We are down to about 240 houses without power. Crews will remain in Seymour until later tonight trying to finish as much as possible,” he posted Thursday at about 6:30 p.m.
Seymour police issued an advisory about blocked roads Thursday:
“There are still multiple road closures around town due to downed trees and wires. There are detours in place. Please use alternate routes if possible.
-South Main Street is closed between Colony Street and Bellevue Terrace
-Derby Avenue is closed between Rose Street and Broad Street.”
That information was valid as of 5 p.m. Thursday.
As of Friday morning, the National Weather Service was forecasting a 40 percent chance for snow Monday.
