State Teachers’ Union: Eliminate Statewide Standardized Tests

The state’s largest teachers’ union is calling on Connecticut lawmakers to end the requirement that students take a statewide standardized test each spring.

Students take a common-core-aligned test — the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, or SBAC test — so the state can measure student progress in selected subject areas and grades.
