Update: Ansonia HomeGoods To Be Located Within Marshalls Space

The HomeGoods store coming to Ansonia will not be located in the space formerly occupied by Aaron’s at the Big Y plaza, as Mayor David Cassetti said and The Valley Indy reported after an Aldermen’s meeting Tuesday.

The store will be located within the space currently used by Marshalls at the shopping center, the property’s owner, Alan Schwartz, said Friday.

Marshalls has 35,000 square feet, so they’re going to share that,” Schwartz said.

More precise information was not available Friday. Schwartz said his company, Glen Equities, is hammering out the details of the lease with officials from TJX Companies, which owns Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods.

Cassetti said he did not know all the specifics of the deal before announcing it Tuesday and telling the Indy HomeGoods would be taking over the former Aaron’s space within the plaza.

I wasn’t too clear,” he said. I didn’t get all the details.”

The Valley Indy didn’t contact the plaza owner, but instead reached out to a HomeGoods spokesman prior to Tuesday’s Aldermen meeting.

The mayor held out the hope that the HomeGoods store will be so successful it will eventually expand into the former Aaron’s space.

Schwartz said that’d be great.

We’re always interested in tenants that want to expand,” he said.

The information about the Aaron’s space had been taken from an interview The Valley Indy conducted with the mayor immediately after Tuesday’s Aldermen meeting.
