Angelina Burturla, 13, has been an influential member of the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley’s Seymour Unit for several years.
Her work in our youth leadership program Torch Club has led them to successful fundraising and community service efforts such as Climate Superstars, in which she helped our group to win several national prizes through educating Club members about climate change.
She also spearheaded our Bracelets for Bennet project, which raised several hundred dollars for a child undergoing heart surgery.

Last year, Angelina was instrumental in the planning and execution of the Northeast Regional Torch Club Summit, which was hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of the LNV, and for which she served on the steering committee.
In large part due to her dedication and passion, we were able to provide a fun and educational leadership experience for nearly 600 youth from the northeast.
She was also named our first ever Junior Youth of a Year, a title gained by undergoing an application and interview process in which her public speaking, dedication to Club and community, and academic success were judged.
She won by unanimous vote by a panel of community leaders and has represented our organization with a poise and confidence well beyond her years.
Angelina is a light to all those who know her. Her passions include community service, art and education. She is an accomplished gymnast, has exceptional grades and continues to be an inspiring leader for her peers.
We are so proud to have Angelina as part of our Boys & Girls Club family and community.
