Shelton Day Is Oct. 5

This year’s Shelton Day street fair is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

The event, sponsored by the Derby-Shelton Rotary, began as a street fair in the mid-80s and attracts thousands to Howe Avenue, where vendors’ booths line the street featuring food, crafts, interactive activities and information.

All proceeds from the event fund scholarships for high school students in Shelton and Derby, as well as other community projects, like Welcome to Shelton” signs.

On Wednesday, the Shelton Police Department released the following info about parking:

IMPORTANT SHELTON DAY PARKING BANS AND ROAD CLOSURES
Shelton Day is Sunday 5 October 2014 and there is a parking ban in effect from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM along Howe Avenue Route 110 from the vicinity of Perry Avenue south to Cornell Street.
Center Street Route 714 is closed from Coram Avenue to Howe Avenue Route 110. Bridge Street Route 712 is closed approximately 500 feet easterly from the intersection with Howe Avenue Route 110.
