WATCH: Derby-Shelton Bridge Design Meeting

About 30 people attended a meeting in Shelton Tuesday (Aug. 22) at which officials from the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments gave an update on planned improvements to the Derby-Shelton Bridge.

The NVCOG officials gave a presentation for about a half-hour before taking questions from the audience.

Those in attendance included Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto, Shelton state Rep. Jason Perillo, Derby Police Chief Gerald Narowski, Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission Chair Ruth Parkins, and Paul Grimmer, the president of the Shelton Economic Development Corporation.

The state has already committed $2 million to fund the improvements. According to a construction timetable presented at the meeting, construction is estimated to begin in March 2019 and take about a year.
