Work On Seymour Roundabout Begins

The following advisory was sent by state Sen. Kevin Kelly Wednesday:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the existing roundabout at the intersection of Route 188, Route 334, and Holbrook Road in Seymour will be changed to a temporary four-way stop.

This will begin around May 27.

The project consists of the modernization of the existing roundabout including: 

  • the realignment of Route 188 Northbound and Southbound
  • the realignment of Route 334 Westbound and Holbrook Road
  • enlargement of the existing roundabout
  • safety improvements
  • drainage upgrades
  • complete repaving of the entire project

It is expected that this traffic configuration will remain in effect until August 2015.

The Contractor will be allowed to impact traffic between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Contractor is required to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction on Route 188, Route 334 and Holbrook Road at all times that they are actively working. 

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

The cost of this project is $1,486,989.25 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2015.
