Zero Interest Home Improvement Loans Available For Those Who Qualify

Does your roof leak? Are your steps crumbling? Are you facing a winter without heat due to a failing furnace? There’s a program available right now to help you.

Lisa Low & Associates is a consultant for 14 Connecticut communities which have each been awarded $400,000 Community Development Block Grant (HUD-CDBG) funds for housing rehabilitation.

The goal of the program is to keep people safe in their homes by providing funding when other means may not be available.

To be eligible, property owners must have the following: 1) an annual income that does not exceed HUD income limits of $44,750 for a 1 person household or $63,900 for a 4 person household (income limits vary by household size, please contact us for more information); 2) up to date municipal taxes; 3) 15 percent equity in home.

Loans are at zero percent interest and are not due and payable until property is sold or homeowner is deceased.

Eligible activities include but are not limited to: replacing failed furnaces, roofs, windows, doors, electrical, and septic system repairs.

These funds can also provide for American with Disabilities (ADA) modifications to homes as well, such as entrance ramps and bathroom modifications.

Applications may be obtained by calling municipal CDBG consultants Lisa Low & Associates at 203 – 888-5624.

Please share this information with any family, friends or neighbors who may be interested or able to benefit from the program.

The communities include: Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Brookfield, New Fairfield, North Stonington, Oxford, Preston, Putnam, Salem, Seymour, Shelton, Southbury and Waterford.
