Kevin J. Swan—Beacon Falls firefighter

Mr. Kevin J. Swan, age 68, of 95 Skokorat Rd., died Wednesday March 10,2010 at Griffin Hospital in Derby after suffering a heart attack while enroute to a fire call. He was the loving and devoted husband of Sandra (Aderhold) Swan.
Mr. Swan was born in Waterbury on December 26,1941 son of the late Wilfred and Lillian (Johnson) Swan. He attended Naugatuck High School and was a graduate of North Kansas City High School in Missouri. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and driver at American Brass, Mesa Construction and Swan Excavation. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mr. Swan was a dedicated member and past Assistant Chief of the Beacon Hose Company #1 in Beacon Falls for 49 years and served as President of the Beacon Falls Senior Center for two terms. He was a member of the New Haven County Fire Chiefs Association, the Valley Fire Chiefs Association, the Red Knights Motorcycle Club Inc., the Connecticut Fire Police Association, the Order of Eagles and the Catholic War Veterans.
Besides his wife, Mr. Swan is survived by a daughter: Erin Swan of Beacon Falls, a son: Brian Swan of Beacon Falls, two sisters: Joan Swan of South Carolina and Sandra Swan of Beacon Falls, two grandchildren:Olivia and Sydney and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister: Karen Swan.
The funeral will be held on Monday March 15,2010 at 10 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave. Naugatuck to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church 25 Maple Ave. Beacon Falls for a mass at 11 a.m.
Burial with full Fire Department honors will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday March 14,2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
