SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from March 3, 2025 through March 9, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 160 calls for service and made four arrests between March 3, 2025 and March 9, 2025.
MARCH 3, 2025
7:05 a.m. A DeForest Street resident reported that his car window was smashed.
11:51 a.m. Police responded to Chatfield-LoPresti School for a medical emergency for a student that possibly ingested a brownie laced with marijuana.
8:38 p.m. A Chestnut Court resident reported that his car was stolen.
10:15 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Squantuck Road.
MARCH 4, 2025
9:27 a.m. A Spring Street resident told police that he parked his car in the area of Pearl Street but was unable to locate the car. Police assisted the resident in finding his car.
3:17 p.m. A manager at Stop & Stop on Franklin Street called police for assistance in removing a solicitor/panhandler from the premises.
6:53 p.m. Police received a complaint about someone driving erratically on Roosevelt Drive.
8:03 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who believes the people living with her grandmother are stealing from her.
MARCH 5, 2025
12:43 p.m. Police received a call about a low-hanging wire in front of McDonald’s on Bank Street.
1:05 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Derby Avenue.
1:06 p.m. An employee at H&R Block on First Street told police a man was in the building recording on his phone, and it made the employee uncomfortable. Police said the man was gone upon their arrival but was later notified by police that he is not to return to the Seymour branch, per request by management.
1:29 p.m. A 911 caller told police she believed someone attempted to break into her Bank Street apartment by picking the lock. Police found no signs of forced entry and advised the resident to tighten the screws on the door.
5:30 p.m. Police charged a 21-year-old Ansonia man with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of marker plates, license and registration, violation of readable/lost plates, illegally operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
MARCH 6, 2025
12:20 a.m. Police responded to a disabled vehicle near Squantuck Road/Roosevelt Drive. The driver told police her windshield wiper blade broke off the car and she was waiting for her husband to bring her a spare. Police provided lights until the husband arrived.
12:50 a.m. A caller told police there was a car on Washington Avenue with the alarm going off and the lights flashing.
8:48 a.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Seymour Middle School. The school resource officer confirmed it was a misdial.
9:06 a.m. A manager at Henny Penny gas station told police that someone drove off with the gas pump still attached to their car. Police confirmed it was the nozzle, not the gas pump, and when that happens, the nozzle disconnects from the pump.
9:23 a.m. A Birchwood Road resident reported to police that there was a bear in the area.
4:43 p.m. Police received a report about a sick/injured raccoon on Lane Street. Animal control was contacted and the raccoon was dispatched.
MARCH 7, 2025
12:13 p.m. A Dolan Road resident reported a power line was down on a tree.
3:30 p.m. A Robin Road resident reported low-hanging power lines. Police notified Frontier of the situation.
5:01 p.m. Police received a call for assistance from state police about a driver whose windshield was struck by a piece of metal on Route 8.
5:53 p.m. Police charged a 28-year-old Bridgeport woman with second-degree sexual assault.
8:28 p.m. A caller told police someone hit his parked car on Main Street.
MARCH 8, 2025
1:52 a.m. A caller reported that three young kids were walking down Washington Avenue with flashlights, and she was concerned for their well-being. Police checked the area, but the kids were gone upon their arrival.
3:18 a.m. Police received a complaint about someone asleep in their car that was parked at the pumps at a gas station on New Haven Road/Route 67. Police conducted a field sobriety test, which was negative.
12:06 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a Mountain Road resident who believed she was scammed by someone claiming to be a Verizon employee and bilked her out of $2,800.
4:20 p.m. A caller reported there was a large piece of metal in the middle of the road on Clinton Road. Police checked the area and found no debris.
MARCH 9, 2025
12:20 a.m. Police charged a 56-year-old Ansonia man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.
1:25 a.m. Police charged a 42-year-old New York man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
12:14 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from an Eastwood Drive resident who said her computer was hacked and/or wiped clean.
2:38 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident on New Haven Road/Route 67. No injuries were reported.
7:10 p.m. Police received a complaint about three juveniles entering the woods near Skokorat Street/Tracy Terrace and possibly damaging an abandoned, dilapidated house. Police said the property owner did not pursue charges and advised the parents and the juveniles to not enter the property again.
